Volunteering

The Santa Rosa Shambhala Center relies on — and deeply appreciates — the inspiration, energy, and talents of volunteers who share in the activity of making our offerings available. Volunteering is an expression of generosity and commitment to helping others along the path. Our center relies on volunteers to sustain our administration, practice container, and educational offerings. This activity is part of what is known in the Shambhala community as “creating enlightened society.”

We are thrilled to welcome members and non-members alike to volunteer according to their interests. Whatever the interest, skill or background, we can probably find an outlet for it! We provide guidance and support as fitting.

Outlined below are some of the ways you can contribute as a volunteer and also deepen your own practice and connection. To get involved or learn more contact [email protected]

Join one of our weekly Sunday Sitting program teams: activities include shrine room set-up, hospitality, greeting, gatekeeping, timekeeping, and help with cleanup/takedown.

Staffing a program: coordinate, staff, or provide audio/visual support.

Staff for the Way of Shambhala Training Programs
If you have attended Shambhala training programs you have noticed the support staff as they go about their tasks. Program staff help to create the protected environment (the “container”) in which the teachings are conveyed and received. To staff a program in the Way of Shambhala series, you must have completed Level III. Beyond that, you are eligible to staff any level you have attended.

Take on an administrative responsibility at the center: assist with social media, community outreach, program promotion, etc.

If you feel inspired to volunteer in any way, please email [email protected].
