You are warmly invited to join us as we celebrate the Tibetan New Year, Year of the Earth Dog!

Shambhala Day is a day of community practice and celebration to mark the new year according to the Tibetan lunar calendar.

On Shambhala Day, we express the wealth and richness of our spiritual and cultural heritage through feasting, conviviality, elegance and pomp. As is customary, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche addresses the worldwide Shambhala community through an online hook-up, which includes centres and groups from six continents and over thirty countries around the world.

Based on the traditional Tibetan New Year’s celebration of Losar, the day is calculated astrologically according to the Tibetan lunar calendar, and changes every year to coincide with the annual lunar cycles.

Shambhala Day 2018 donate button This is also the time when members of the Santa Rosa Shambhala community are encouraged to make a financial donation order to help support the activities of our center and the worldwide mandala.

We will gather afterwards for a community potluck. Please bring a dish to share.
