We asked Andrew Holecek to write a personal note about this year’s program:

“I’m excited to be returning to Santa Rosa Shambhala for a deeper exploration of the nocturnal meditations. Many people wonder why they should bother with lucid dreaming or dream yoga, “What’s in it for me?” In my ongoing research for two forthcoming books, the data on the physical, psychological, and spiritual benefits are breathtaking. I’ll share this latest data on the first morning. It’s almost too good to be true”.

The key to success with the nocturnal meditations are the diurnal practices. It’s hard to recognize something in the dark that you haven’t previously met in the light of the day. So we’ll practice meeting these subtle states with some daily meditations. This includes the profound and enjoyable practice of illusory form. The fruition of the nocturnal meditations is to become a child of illusion, and these special children (us) play with these delightful daily “toys.” Learn how to see the world, and all its problems, with lucid, childlike eyes. Studies have shown that lucid dreamers are better at solving problems.

The truly important point is that lucid dreaming is really about lucid living. We’re using the medium of the night as a way to explore the nature of mind and reality in all states. The emphasis is on how to wake up NOW. Lucidity is just a code word for awareness, so these teachings are all about heightening awareness — and everything improves with that.

Andrew will also present how the lucidity principle can help us with real-world problems — particularly the current political climate. The lucidity principle can help us understand the root of ANY problem, and how to better relate to it. The video and slide presentation will reveal the immediacy and practicality of lucidity, in its largest scope. He will also share a four-step practice that can be engaged in any moment of reactivity — political, economic, or otherwise — that can help you every single day.

While this weekend does continue some material from last year, anybody can attend. Andrew will review the key points, and bring new folks easily into the topics we’ll unpack this year.

“From Andrew Holecek’s first words, you know you can trust him. He writes from deeply felt experience as well as a masterful grasp of the vast dharma.”
