First Sundays: Study of “Places That Scare You” by Pema Chödrön

First Sunday of each month 9:30 am – noonThe Places That Scare You (Book cover)

Starting the First Sunday in August 2018, we will begin to delve into Pema Chödrön’s book, The Places That Scare You and the wisdom it offers us in these difficult times. We will be using “Hearing, Contemplation, and Mediating” to deepen our understanding and experience as we explore her teachings using a ‘book study’ format.

Life throws us curve balls. How do we act with sanity and kindness? Do we typically react habitually and make things more difficult? Each moment we can choose how we are going to proceed. Pema Chödrön’s book offers advice and teachings that can support us in moving through our life with discernment and compassion.

The morning consists of meditation, contemplations, tea, and conversation. This is followed by a shared reading aloud of our current chapter with lively discussions. Senior teacher Deborah Hoskins will facilitate.

Please join us from 9:30 am to noon.

Each Sunday will be a stand-alone study, however, we would love to see you for each First Sunday as this would enrich us all. There is no charge but donations are always appreciated and help us provide a meditation space for the community.
